Welcome!
At Zest & Mojo, we believe burnout requires more than surface-level solutions.
It's about deep, meaningful change that honors your unique journey. Rooted in trauma-informed, socially conscious principles, our approach draws from Scandinavian wisdom to create a path that’s both compassionate and sustainable. We are committed to helping you restore energy, balance, and purpose — while addressing the impact of both systemic stressors and personal trauma.
Reclaim Your Wellbeing, Restore Your PowerÂ
Burnout and chronic stress aren’t just personal struggles — they’re deeply connected to the systems we live in. For many, the weight of oppression, inequity, and societal expectations is what keeps them down. At Zest & Mojo, we help you see the bigger picture: the challenges you face aren’t a reflection of your individual shortcomings, but symptoms of a world that often demands too much, gives too little, and excludes those who don’t fit into narrow boxes.Â
Our coaching and healing work supports you in reclaiming your energy — not only for your wellbeing but as a step toward creating a balanced and just life. We embrace conscious capitalism, using business as a force for good by prioritizing ethical practices, community, and sustainability alongside financial success. Here, financial growth aligns with positive impact, reinforcing our belief that well-being, success, and social responsibility can coexist.
Your journey with Zest & Mojo is part of a greater movement toward justice and resilience. By prioritizing your wellbeing, you’re choosing to challenge systems that exploit and exhaust, making space for others to do the same.Â
Our Approach
At Zest & Mojo, we’ve developed The Living LAGOM™ Framework — a holistic burnout recovery method inspired by the Scandinavian philosophy of lagom, meaning “just the right amount.”
This flexible framework is designed to meet you exactly where you are, whether you’re overwhelmed by work demands or struggling to prioritize self-care.
We provide tailored solutions that cultivate balance across all areas of life, while supporting nervous system regulation through trauma-informed practices.
Our approach respects your individual pace and needs, honoring each unique journey with compassionate, sustainable guidance.
Who We Are
Zest & Mojo Chronic Stress Recovery was founded on the belief that true healing from burnout must address both personal and systemic roots of stress.
Through a socially conscious, trauma-informed lens — and grounded in the principle of lagom — we help you build a balanced life that’s realistic and sustainable.
We recognize that systemic issues play a critical role in chronic stress, and our work is informed by a commitment to social justice, so that healing becomes a right, not a privilege.
Our focus is on supporting your mind, body, and spirit, enabling you to recover and thrive without sacrificing wellbeing.
Our Mission
Our mission is to empower individuals to break free from the cycle of burnout and reclaim lives filled with energy, resilience, and joy.Â
We blend Scandinavian principles of balance and sustainability with practices from Eastern traditions — like mindfulness, meditation, and yoga — alongside trauma awareness and modern scientific insights.
This holistic, compassionate approach enables lasting change, allowing you to heal without compromising who you are.
We envision a world where healing is accessible to all, rooted in justice and compassion.

About Our Founder
Hello!
Â
I’m Maria Johansson,Â
Certified Integrative Nutrition Health Coach, Reiki Master, and the founder of Zest & Mojo Chronic Stress Recovery
I help individuals achieve healing and growth by integrating mind, body, and spirit, fostering empowered transformation, restoring balance through nervous system regulation, addressing the interconnected impact of societal systems, promoting justice and equity in wellness, encouraging sustainable and preventive practices, and grounding the journey in mindful spirituality.
My Journey with Debilitating Burnout / Exhaustion Syndrome
My journey toward supporting others in overcoming burnout is rooted in my own experience with chronic stress, Complex PTSD, and navigating significant life challenges. Years of unresolved stress — compounded by the relentless demands of a corporate career — pushed me to the point of debilitating burnout. My body and mind reached a breaking point, leaving me unable to work, exhausted, and disconnected from the life I once knew.
It was during this period of collapse that I realized true wellbeing is not a one-time achievement but an ongoing commitment to intentional habits and deep self-care. It’s a process of rebuilding balance, restoring energy, and nurturing the mind, body, and spirit. These hard-won lessons drive my passion to help others recover from burnout and reclaim their lives with a renewed sense of vitality and purpose.
My Holistic and Unique Approach
With a foundation in holistic health coaching and energy healing, I combine compassion, intuition, and strategic thinking to create a safe space for deep, transformative work. Rooted in Scandinavian principles of balance and informed by trauma-sensitive practices, I guide my clients through actionable steps toward lasting change. Whether it’s navigating career stress or rebuilding a sense of self, my approach is personalized, goal-oriented, and always grounded in empathy. Together, we create a plan that not only helps you recover but sets you up to thrive — both personally and professionally.
Acknowledging Privilege, Challenges, and Unconscious Biases
As a white, middle-class, cisgender, heterosexual woman, I acknowledge the privileges I hold, which have often opened doors for me that remain closed to others. Speaking multiple languages has expanded my ability to connect across cultures, and living in a major U.S. city has offered me the opportunity to learn from people facing diverse and systemic challenges, including those who are unhoused or confronting barriers I have never personally experienced. These interactions have deepened my commitment to community action and social justice.
I am also the mother of a neurodiverse, non-binary (now adult) child, which has strengthened my empathy and dedication to creating inclusive, safe spaces where everyone feels valued and heard. My personal journey — from growing up in a household affected by disabilities and mental health struggles to navigating life as an immigrant with Complex PTSD and autoimmune disease — has shaped my understanding of how systems often fail to support those who need it most.
While I recognize that oppressive systems cannot be fully dismantled by any one person, and certainly not by me alone, I remain deeply committed to doing my part. These systems have been built over lifetimes, and it will take lifetimes of collective effort to break them down. Though I may not be able to change everything in my lifetime, I believe in the importance of contributing to the slow and steady work of making the world more just and equitable.
I also remain committed to truly listening to and learning from those who face struggles I may never fully experience or understand. I approach these conversations with humility, recognizing that my role is to listen deeply, honor the voices of those with different lived experiences, and ensure their perspectives are heard and respected. Through cultural humility, ongoing self-reflection, along with continuous learning and growth, I seek to create spaces that welcome diverse perspectives, where we can all work together toward reclaiming our energy and wellbeing in a world that too often drains us.
